Here's what you can expect
When you become a client, we'll use the following roadmap and pace us through the time we'll be working together. I'll personalize the training during our 1:1 coaching sessions to ensure you have a customized plan to reach your goals.
Step 1: Establish a Starting Point
We'll kick things off by identifying where you are in the college planning process with the Wants and needs Assessment, and then take your Financial Inventory. Using the Flexibility Analyzer, we'll establish where it makes sense to look for compromises with your planning options—and then you'll dream big with our Visualization Exercise!
Step 3: Create Boundaries
College shouldn't put you or your student in financial distress, so in this step, we'll document your student's maximum approved college budget and implement some boundaries for you as a parent. We'll go through the College Budget Builder, discuss budget enhancers & budget gap-fillers to incorporate scholarships, merit aid and student loan discussions into the overall budget.
Step 5: Select Schools
With so much planning and prepwork already in place, the time to select schools has come. Using our College App, you'll be able to easily research and select schools to add to your college list that reflect the unique needs of your student and your family.
Step 2: Weigh Financial Priorities
It's time for a healthy reality check. As a parent, you're also allowed to dream big— so in Step 3, we'll work together to help you identify how your contributions towards paying for college impact your other financial goals, then we'll run calculations to demonstrate that impact.
Step 4: Forge a Path
A lot of college-bound students are unsure of what type of school they should be looking for. That's why we work with your student to fill out the Interest Profile to understand career and college major choices. We'll then help them narrow down their preferences with the College Characteristics Worksheet.
Step 6: Review the Plan
By the time you reach our final step, you'll have a plan detailing the chosen school list along with the reasons for those selections. This is a time for your child to accept the commitment they are making to completing the college application process using our College Organizer to guide them every step of the way.
